Just in case you think the TSA has a clue what regulations are or how they should be enforced, let me just say, nope. Not so.
I am travelling today, due to an interesting snowballing of events, without a current picture ID. (Thanks DMV.ca.gov for listing the location and hours of my nearest office, but not the fact that said office closed for renovations days before I went there for a new ID. That was just the icing on the snowballed ID cake, but I digress.)
I flew in late May and managed to do it without much in the way of a clusterfuck. I just got treated like a suspicious person, isolated, strip searched patted down, etc. Inconvenient, but really, no big deal in the scheme of things. I knew it was coming and planned accordingly.
This time I checked online to ensure that I was still meeting the standards in bringing my non-government ID. I have an extremely expired drivers license, (I have no idea where my not-so-expired DL disappeared to - I have bad ID karma?) my picture ID from work, my bank card with my picture on it, my social security card, my birth certificate, and my marriage certificate to clarify why my BC name doesn't match my SS name.
First the Delta check-in person says I can't fly. Then she says I can. Then the Delta guy who checked my bag says I can. Great. Stamp my boarding pass and I'll go run the security screening gauntlet.
Security ahoy! Go through. Smile smile. Here's my boarding pass. Here are my various forms of ID. What? You don't think I can go through. Yes, please do call over another person to consult with. I'm a selectee? Goody! I knew that was coming. I get to go stand in a glass box until a female screener can come over to feel me up pat me down.
Female screener wants to see my IDs. She thinks they should suffice and I don't need to get the "may well blow up the plane" treatment. She checks with a supervisor. Supervisor says no, this woman without a current plastic rectangle with her picture on it is a threat. Screener rolls her eyes and starts the groping pat down.
Supervisor Number Two comes over to see my IDs. Oh, she has three things with her picture on it, two government issued proofs that she's a US citizen and a third one proving that this woman came by her last name as honestly as one can with a Reno wedding.
Supervisor Number Two decides we've all done our due diligence and pronounces me unlikely to blow us all up in a random act of the Pagan Liberation Front.
So, here I am. Huzzah! Less than 24 hours 'til Disneyland!

That aside, uhh. Yeah, my mom's taking the router to work every day now. It kind of sucks. So my flist commenting will be sparse, and uhm.

But this will have to wait until tomorrow night maybe? I'm so sleepy now. ._.;
A week's full hiatus from all of eljay to sort things out and to get my school/projects/work schedules functioning properly and in order.
